I must take issue with a recent letter to The Times. Joe Tanti wrote the following: "Following the Baby P fiasco, what qualifications does one need to have to become a social worker in Haringey, England besides cowardice, ignorance and lunch breaks?"
Unless Mr Tanti either has access to the report which has not yet been written on the results of the current inquiry into this case, or has direct experience of every person currently working as "a social worker in Haringey, England" he should perhaps reserve his vitriol and ridiculous, sweeping generalisation for subjects he has actual knowledge of, rather than succumbing to the bandwagon-jumping sensationalist outrage encouraged by the British tabloid press.
If I might paraphrase the saying, "never let a lack of knowledge of the facts get in the way of a good story" seems to have applied here.
