You need a reality check and fast my friend. If you decide to remove your apparent blinkers you will notice that PN have been in the seat of power since 1987. What a cheek to keep blaming all the ills of this country on the MLP!!

The fact is that a Government Department did not abide by the MEPA rules and regulations. Who authorised these works and why? Was there political interference? Were there any ulterior motives? Someone must be held accountable.

Are we supposed to take this in stride. Money coming out of our taxes were thrown to the wind to carry out these works and now to remove them, and I would not be surprised that soon after further public money will be spent to reconstruct it after the necessary permits are obtained.

Don't know about you but I am fed up of paying hard earned money in taxes for this government to simply squander away.

Let's grow up shall we. Prime Minister Gonzi and his cabinet need to come in the clear about this.

I have spoken to may people, some of whom moved from the private over to the public secrtor. The cultural shock that they got was beyond belief. They got shouted at by their own colleagues for working too efficiently and too fast. These are facts which I can personally vouch for. We are still living in the shadows of the past, a substandard performance that keeps on being passed over to future generations. Its a reality that some dont like to hear.

In order to cure yourself one needs to accept the problem, but its seems that its in many people's interest not to accept the problem 'halli nkomplu nikluhielu'.

Why is everyone making such a fuss when clearly they don't have all the facts? This could very easily be the result of a simple misunderstanding or a silly mistake like holding a map upside down. At the end of the day these poor souls they took the initiative to try and build something useful, if it was an honest mistake I think that they should be forgiven.

Dom Mintoff was in power about 23 years ago. Do you really want us to believe that he planted people there 23 years ago, they in turn climbed the ladder, settling into key positions in order to destabilize the country? Start writing spythrillers!

Anyone who works in Gov today can tell you how some people come in out of nowhere and are fast tracked and promoted into key positions without the necessary education, experience or aptitude for the position. That's what is wrong in this country because "nephews" and yesmen are given preference over the real people who wish to work and provide their country with a service.

This shows that MEPA is not Gozitan.
In Gozo no one sees no one hears and no one speaks . For example, it is said that the (gozitan) wardens know which cars are "Maltese'.
It must have been an outsider who uncovered this!

The very sad fact is that government departments are administered by people that were employed during the Dom Mintoff Era so we can all assume their political bias. I have heard such people boasting about their substandard performance on purpose simply as a silent protest against a government that they never voted for. 'L-aqwa li niekolielu' is their slogan.

This is the reality and this is why our country keeps falling behind.

The Projects and Development Department, back in 2006, presumably was the responsibility of its Director - who, again presumably, was in a position to get to know a thing or two before giving the order for the works to get under way.
Confusion worse confounded - and further confusing!
I repeat:- For those who know Gozo, no explanation is necessary. For those who don't, none is possible!

So ''government'' workers reversed what previous ''government'' did!!! And who is paying for this? Right ; US; THE CITIZENS''. What a waste!! It seems there is no end to this. Haven't we subsidized enough lame enterprises? No wonder we have such a big MINUS!!!
In this case the culprit who gave the go ahead should first be fired as he had no authority to do what he did and then made to pay for it. But then again, hope is eternal.

Unless we name and shame nothing will change. The article below comes across as abuse of power....'hbieb tal-hbieb'.
Although they are putting the road to its orgin width, it doesnt solve the problem. Someone needs to be accountable for these decisions and must be asked why they were approved.
The taxpayers deserve an answer.

Inter-governmental department billing means one thing: you and I have to pay for the errors of someone else. When will we see the day that whoever ordered the illegal widening of the road - and surely such a minute in the appropriate government file exists - is held accountable and made to pay through his nose?
