During the year, the government spend €30.2 million on restructuring and extensions of factories. Minister of Finance Tonio Fenech told Carmelo Abela (MLP) in Parliament yesterday that the sum included £23 million spent on the Lufthansa Technik Malta Ltd factory until end of September.

The Minister said €2.2 million were spent during 2005, €5.1 million in 2006 and €8 million last year.

Mr Fenech pointed out that the private sector also invested in the factories' development.
