I have read Simon Busuttil's article Coming In From The Cold (November 19). As usual it was a sober and factual article in which Dr Busuttil makes the following salient points.

a) The euro is a stronger currency then the old Maltese lira.

b) Joining the EU enabled us to adopt the euro.

c) Adopting the euro saved us from greater economic problems.

d) Joining the EU and adopting the euro did not come by default but by design.

Notwithstanding all these hard facts some people still resort to negative remarks on The Times online with regards to Dr Busuttil's articles.

If these armchair critics carried out but a fraction of the work Dr Busuttil accomplishes on everyone's behalf, and that also includes those who choose to censure him, then their comments may be deemed more credible.
