Milan were held 2-2 at struggling Torino last night, leaving city rivals Inter three points clear at the top of Serie A.
Torino's Alessandro Rosina scored a 78th-minute penalty, which was conceded for handball by Kakha Kaladze, to earn the hosts a draw after Ronaldinho had put Milan 2-1 up with a spectacular free-kick in the 34th.
Milan's Brazil striker Alexandre Pato had controlled a Gennaro Gattuso pass and thumped the ball home in the 29th to equalise shortly after Torino's Roberto Stellone opened the scoring with a header.
The visitors rode their luck after Ronaldinho's strike and Rosina's late leveller was deserved, although Milan also had a good penalty claim for handball by Francesco Pratali turned down at the start of the second half.
Second-placed Milan have 27 points from 13 games, while champions Inter have 30 after Saturday's 1-0 win over third-placed Juventus at the San Siro.
Napoli are level with Juventus on 24 points. Earlier in the day, they blew the chance to join Milan momentarily in second place when they were held 2-2 at home by Cagliari as Roma continued their return to form with a 3-0 win at Lecce.
Daniele Conti scored a stoppage-time equaliser for the Sardinians after Napoli's Ezequiel Lavezzi thought he had won it with a superb late free-kick.
Cagliari's Diego Lopez had pounced in the 56th minute to cancel out Slovak midfielder Marek Hamsik's early opener.
Montenegro striker Mirko Vucinic set Roma on their way in the 11th minute when he ran on to a Francesco Totti through ball and slotted home a diagonal shot, although he would not celebrate scoring against his former club.
Brazilian defender Juan knocked in the visitors' second seven minutes before half-time when the deflection of a Matteo Brighi effort fell to him close to goal.
Captain Totti wrapped up things with a delightful chip over oncoming keeper Francesco Benussi four minutes after the break.
Coming on the back of last week's derby victory over Lazio, the win lifts Roma towards the middle of the standings after their miserable start and boosts morale before Wednesday's visit to CFR Cluj in the Champions League.
Lazio are joint fifth with Fiorentina, who beat Udinese 4-2 on Saturday, after grabbing a 1-1 home draw with Genoa thanks to Ousmane Dabo's powerful strike that slipped through keeper Rubinho's hands 10 minutes from time.
Diego Milito had put Genoa in front with his 11th goal of the season in the 69th minute.
The Argentine striker had a tap-in wrongly disallowed for offside and blasted a penalty over the bar either side of half-time.
Sampdoria continued to climb up the standings after a 3-0 victory over Catania at home.
Claudio Bellucci touched in a Marius Stankevicius cross to put the hosts in charge in the sixth minute.
Antonio Cassano side-footed into the far corner in the 62nd and finished off a counter-attack at the death to ensure Samp tamed the surprise Sicilian package.
Francesco Cozza curled a free-kick into the top corner and Bernardo Corradi headed in after a corner to put relegation strugglers Reggina 2-0 up inside 21 minutes against Atalanta.
The visitors tried to respond with Thomas Manfredini, who hit the post, and with Tiberio Guarente skimming the crossbar in the first half. Corradi drove in a deflected shot for his second before Cristiano Doni's headed consolation goal deep into stoppage time.
