Utility tariffs: tax credits for SMEs proposed
Finance Minister Tonio Fenech has offered SMEs a form of compensation for higher utility tariffs through tax credits, Vince Farrugia, Director-General of the GRTU said this evening.
Speaking after the GRTU’s second meeting in a few days with Mr Fenech, Mr Farrugia described the meeting as positive.
He said that rather than the tax credits, the GRTU delegation had argued that the tariffs should be reduced by an amount equivalent to the proposed credits.
He said the two sides would be meeting again in the coming days after the government presents its workings.

Yes!!! Why we, the common people, can qualify for any tax credits? It is always the business community who benefit, or are they considering distributing some of their profits to us in thefuture, as a result of this. Hallina Vince Always the poor suffers. I have to consider sending my wife to work after 17 years to make ends meet in today's world. I do not have any villas or summer residences or expensive cars, as most of the business men do.

plain English = taxpayers with a fixed salary should subsidize GRTU members.
That's economics for you, missus.

I wonder what sense Vince Farrugia sees in this proposition. He may be getting tax credits for his GRTU members, but what about their clients? Does he really think SME's lot is any better now? If people's spending power is not improved clients will certainly not spend on any extras this xmas. And then let's see what Mr Farrugia has to say when the whining goes up to a deafening pitch. Short-sighted, lop-sided economics.

And what about us who are not SME's? What will we be getting? Are WE going to subsidise the businesses instead of the government?
