Year 4 pupils at St Benedict's College's Mqabba Primary School recently met up with Year 3 pupils at Zebbug Primary School to stroll around Zebbug together to learn more about Malta's national poet, Dun Karm Psaila.

The pupils and teachers visited various monuments and places around the city and pupils were given worksheets with questions which they had to answer.

The itinerary included the monument dedicated to Dun Karm, the two houses in which he lived and the school he used to attend when he was seven years old. Pupils noticed that a considerable number of Zebbug streets have names related to the poet or his poems.

At Wied Qirda the pupils learned the sad reason why this place was given such name. They felt sorry for the people of Zebbug who died there but also felt a sense of pride that they managed to defeat the French army. At the locality's cemetery the pupils visited the chapel dedicated to Dun Karm Psaila in which he is buried.

Such activities are excellent opportunities for colleges to work together, exchange information, share traditions and help each other to learn together.
