The Salesians of Don Bosco, in collaboration with Heritage Malta, are selling 500 numbered reproductions of the Great Siege map fresco housed in the Gallery of Maps in the Vatican Museum.

The map, painted under the supervision of Ignazio Danti between 1581 and1582, shows the battle waged during the Great Siege of 1565.

The reproduction measures 47.5 by 47.5 centimetres, about 45 per cent of its original size, and is printed on 300-gram cotton paper and mounted manually.

It comes in a cardboard sleeve with a short history and description of the fresco. Photography and design are by Daniel Cilia.

The reproductions will be sold on a first-come-first-served basis and cost €60 each. They are being sold in aid of St Patrick's Salesian School. To order a copy phone Fr Charles Cini on 2133 7572/7949 2555 or send an e-mail to charlescini@gmail.com.
