Youngsters held over cannabis
Six youths, three of them as young as 15 and 16, were arrested on Wednesday when they were allegedly found in possession of cannabis at an army road block in Żabbar.
A 21-year-old man and a 16-year-old girl, both from Fgura, together with a 15-year-old boy from Ħamrun were stopped by soldiers at about 10.30 p.m. after they were seen dumping what was suspected to be drugs from the car.
Half an hour later, another trio, a 15-year-old boy from Żabbar, a 17-year-old male from Fgura and an 18-year-old woman also from Fgura, were arrested in identical circumstances. They were seen throwing what looked like drugs out of the car window when they were being stopped at the road block.
The AFM said its soldiers seized cannabis and related paraphernalia in both cases.
The youngsters have been questioned by the police and are under investigation.

Are the Maltese so docile that they are okay without the civil liberty of knowing they cannot be randomly searched? Or are we moronically the first to uphold the farcical belief of "If you have nothing to hide...."
I totally disagree with Robert Mifsud, I think the Army can Police can find bigger fish to fry and better things to do. Indeed, Why does the rest of Europe, Canada ( liberal parts of US) know that such offenses should be treated with a mere slap on the hand while in Malta we remain so draconian about it?
L-Ahwa, ghax ghandna il-ligijiet ta'wara il-muntanji ha immorru il-genna jew?
Enforcing archaic laws which have long ago been dumped by the rest of Europe.
Don't the AFM soldiers have anything better to do? How about using their time cleaning up the countryside. That would benefit the country far more than landing half a dozen kids in hot water over a joint.
Alcohol caused far more damage than cannabis and yet in the last budget its price was slashed. Go figure.
