The Senglea council is one of the 14 regional winners in the Regional Champions Awards 2008 of the European Union’s Committee of the Regions.
The awards aim to identify and showcase the very best in regional innovation and best practices throughout EU regions, highlighting projects that can serve as examples to other regions.
Senglea won with a project on intercultural dialogue. A total of 250 proposals were submitted from councils in 26 EU member states.
Local Councils Association vice-president Claudette Abela-Baldacchino described Senglea’s award was an honour for all Maltese and Gozitan councils.
