Industrial action by state pharmacists intensified
State pharmacies will start closing at noon as from November 26 and will remain closed as from December 1 unless the Health Division sent proposals regarding the pharmacists employed with the government, the Union Ħaddiema Magħqudin said.
It said that even though the Health Division had informed it that it had appointed a board to draw up the proposals more than three weeks ago, no proposals had as yet been forthcoming.
The union said it was being very careful to create the least possible suffering for the public with its actions but the division was not working towards a solution.

Mr Tabone Adami, You are right. The POYC project should have been extended by now. As a main participant i can tell you its through no fault of ours. Some government pharmacists have opposed POYC tooth and nail, for reasons best known to themselves. this is not right. Govt should lay down the law and resist any attempt for these workers to pick and choose. There are no pharmacists ready to be employed by Govt. and they know it. Some pharmacists just dont want to go work in hospital but want to stay in the state pharmacy. This is what this dispute is all about.

And, in the meantime, the "Pharmacy of your choice" project is still on the back-burner - and so many thousands of entitled persons out there are still waiting!!! Shame!

It seems that this government will not listen or do anything before a problem turns into a crises.
Than of course we blame the workers and the union.
