A man is demanding that a female police inspector pays him damages after he was arrested illegally over traffic offences.

Shawn Azzopardi claimed that he had been arrested for driving dangerously, failing to prevent an accident and disobeying police orders.

He had been acquitted by Magistrate Saviour Demicoli due to conflicting evidence on October 30.

Mr Azzopardi has filed a judicial letter claiming that he had been illegally arrested and seeking damages from the prosecuting officer, Police Inspector Sandra Zammit.

Lawyer Anġlu Farrugia signed the judicial letter.
