As part of the geography syllabus, a number of Form 2 students, and students studying geography as an option, attending Our Lady Immaculate School, Ħamrun, recently visited Sicily. During this one-day trip, they visited Mount Etna where they learnt about tectonic movements, including the causes and effects of a volcanic eruption. This was a wonderful opportunity for the participating students to observe first-hand the positive and negative effects a volcano has on an island's landscape and economy. This experience served as groundwork for the case study students need to prepare as part of their exams. The students also visited Taormina and Giardini Naxos.
