AFM make two drug finds at checkpoint
The police found drugs in two cars and arrested seven persons at a vehicle checkpoint near Zabbar last night.
In the first case, the soldiers from 'B' Company of 1 Regiment observed passengers throwing items out of a car as it approached the checkpoint. On further investigation, cannabis resin was found inside. Three passengers, from Fgura and Hamrun, were arrested.
In a similar incident later in the night, a passenger was seen throwing items from a car which carried four passengers. An amount of cannabis was found in the vehicle and four passengers were arrested. They reside in Zabbar and Fgura.
The passengers and vehicles were transferred to the police for further investigation.
