President Emeritus receives Spanish medal of honour

President Emeritus Guido de Marco was yesterday bestowed with a medal of honour by the Spanish Diplomatic School.

Surrounded by eclectic antiques and works of art collected over the years, Prof. de Marco proudly stood up to accept the honour with dignity in a short ceremony at his home in San Pawl tat-Tarġa.

"You are the model of what a Mediterranean diplomat should be," the school's Ambassador Director Ignacio Sagaz Temprano said as he handed the medal to Prof. de Marco for his work in spreading European values and dialogue between Malta and Spain.

Mr Sagaz Temprano is in Malta to establish a framework for academic cooperation with the Mediterranean Academic of Diplomatic Studies of Malta.

The Maltese and Spanish institutions are working to establish and develop a liaison in the formation and training of diplomatic and consular personnel.
