The Malta Philharmonic Orchestra is broadening its performance repertoire with the purchase of a harpsichord following an agreement with Bank of Valletta, the orchestra's official partner.
John Soler, the bank's chief officer credit, said the new harpsichord will be played during a concert at the Manoel Theatre, Valletta, on January 24. With the purchase of the instrument, the first in a series financed through the orchestra's collaboration with the bank, the musicians will be better equipped to perform baroque music.
The J. C. Neupert Blanchet double manual harpsichord is internationally recognised as one of the top models and is used by some of the world's finest orchestras such as the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra.
