New cruise ship flies Maltese flag

Celebrity Cruises have taken delivery of the Celebrity Solstice, the biggest cruise liner ever built in Germany. The ship was built at the Meyer Shipyard and flies the Maltese merchant flag.

Present at the handover ceremony were the chairman of the Malta Maritime Authority, Marc Portelli and Lino Vassallo,executive director and permanent representative of Malta to the International Maritime Organization in London.

The luxury liner has a length of 317,2 metres and a width of 36,8 metres. It can accommodate 2850 passengers in 1425 cabins.

The ship has successfully completed its technical and nautical trials in the North Sea.
