BV Joint Venture to build first SmartCity building

The first office building that will form part of the $300 million SmartCity will be built by BV Joint Venture, formed between Bonnici Brothers Ltd and Ballut Blocks Ltd.

SmartCity said the contractor and its sub-contractors and suppliers would be following Leed(R) procedures for sustainable buildings.

The state of the art building will be ready for use in 2010, providing 12,000 square metres of office space with intelligent infrastructure serving as the first milestone for the creation of an ICT and media hub.

This will be followed by further office buildings and the other ancillary components including residential and retail spaces.
