SmartCity foundation stone to be laid on Tuesday

The foundation stone of SmartCity is to be laid on Tuesday, November 25, IT Minister Austin Gatt told Parliament this evening.

He said this was the biggest foreign investment that Malta had ever seen, an IT township which would employ in excess of 6,000 people.

Earlier this year MEPA approved the building of the first phase of the project which will feature three office blocks which will take 1,500 employees. Another four units will house shops, restaurants and commercial services as well as a hotel and residential accommodation.

WELL DONE Dr Austin Gatt and all those involved in bringing over to Malta this huge project. We should thank God that it has come at a time when it is most needed.

I am sure the prophets of doom and gloom will soon have something to comment about this project; negative comments....of course! Instead of being thankful and optimistic, they always try to instil a feeling of insecurity in others. The fact is that more often they are proved wrong.

and our 600 youngsters are still waiting to start their scholastic year, they were asked to take an ict course cause they have a future in smart city. some of the students are already saying that they are not going to continue their ict course cause they do not want to attend school in summer because most of them work in summer
