QE2 arrives at 9 a.m. today

Britain's iconic liner, the Queen Elizabeth 2, will today be calling at Grand Harbour for the last time in almost 40 years of service.

The ship will this month cease service as a cruise liner to house a luxury hotel and entertainment venue in Dubai. She will arrive at 9 a.m. and berth at Pinto Wharf.

Upon entry, the saluting battery will announce its arrival and a brass band will perform for passengers. The QE2 will leave at 6 p.m.

It was the Queen Victoria which smacked the quay at the Valletta Waterfront while berthing in May, and not the QE2, as reported in The Times yesterday.
