Police Superintendent Raymond Zammit has asked a court to halt the promotions to assistant commissioner of police as the process has become defective, he claimed.
Supt Zammit said the selection process was vitiated because he was not given the points he deserved, particularly for job related knowledge and seniority.
As a consequence he was placed sixth in ranking order when five assistant commissioners were to be appointed. He said he should have been second or third.
He filed the application asking a court to issue a warrant of prohibitory injunction to halt the promotions. It was filed against the Minister of Home Affairs and the Commissioner of Police.
Dr Anġlu Farrugia signed the application.
