The traffic situation in Lija worsens with every passing day with little or nothing being done about it. Cars whizz round the sharp corners of narrow Triq il-Forn, just missing parked cars with many of the drivers having one hand on the steering wheel and using the other to chatter away on their mobile phone. The majority of residents in the area are elderly and so at risk from these happy-go-lucky drivers many of whom do not live in our village.

The local council may have achieved much in other areas but it has failed miserably in traffic management. The same can be said for the blatant flouting of the no-entry sign coming down from the tal-Mirakli area to Triq il-Forn especially early in the morning.

Is there any control of either of these two traffic infringements? Of course not, the local council seems to suffer from inertia when it comes to taking drastic decisions regarding traffic management.
