A light aircraft overshot the runway at Malta International Airport this afternoon and ended up on the grass.

Informed sources said the incident involved a private four-seat aircraft. Emergency services were quickly on the scene. The aircraft ,a US registered Maltese-owned Socata TB20 Trinidad, was not damaged and later taxied back to the apron. However the runway was momentarily closed.

No one was injured.
