Drugs seized during roadblock

A 17-year-old man from Sta Lucia was detained by the army after drugs were discovered during a roadblock in Qormi on Friday night.

The man was a passenger in a car stopped by soldiers during a routine check. Following a body search, an unspecified amount of cannabis resin was found in a packet of cigarettes.

The case was handed over to Qormi police.

Although a minor, he was already using drugs.

Referring to the youth as a 17 year old man doesn't change the fact that a minor was detained and body searched (?!) without his parent/s or guardian present.
