An autopsy yesterday established that the death of a driver at the wheel caused an accident - and not the other way round.
It was a horrible scene for bystanders last Thursday when a mammoth truck veered to one side, smashed into two parked cars and then bounced off them into a rubble wall on the other side.
Police sources said the truck went off track after the driver, 40-year-old Lorenzo Cassar of Żebbuġ, suffered a heart attack.
The truck was only slightly damaged, as was a parked Isuzu but the other car, a Toyota, was badly damaged. Sources meanwhile confirmed that the 44-year-old man hospitalised on Tuesday after a garage fire was treated for burns to his face and hands.
The garage in Il-Merħba Street, Fgura is used to make cheesecakes.
The police said the Occupational Health and Safety Department was informed of the accident.
