The new electricity tariffs continue to include cross-subsidisation, the Malta Chamber for Small and Medium Enterprises GRTU insisted.

In a statement it said that although the capping of 5.2 million to large industries was now be taken on by the government, the tariffs were not changed from those outlined to the social partners on October 28.

The GRTU reiterated that it would be taking the matter to the local and European courts to ensure that the interests of its members were safeguarded.

It said that the cross-subsidisation affected more than 39,000 non-residential account holders. The chamber said it was confident that the vast majority of business owners in Malta from all categories would obey its directive not to pay excesses.
