Green Party visits SmartCity

SmartCity chief executive officer Claudio Grech yesterday briefed Alternattiva Demokratika chairman Arnold Cassola about the project during the latter's visit to the construction site.

Mepa last month approved the development application for SmartCity and the detailed planning application for the construction of the first block of offices. Covering some 12,000 square metres, the office space is primarily intended to accommodate ICT and media companies. Its construction is expected to begin in the coming weeks. During yesterday's meeting, the SmartCity team discussed various aspects of self-sustained township with the Green Party. The aspect of sustainable development, the importance of a strong educational framework to provide the supply of talent to meet the demand to be created and the impact which it will have on the outlook of the southern part of the island were also discussed.
