The Malta Communications Authority has removed an obligation on fixed network operators to provide access to Internet Service Providers. As a result, from July 2009, such access will be subject to commercial negotiations.

The decision was taken after a survey on the level of competition which, the MCA said, “did not find enough evidence to prove beyond doubt that any undertaking enjoyed dominance in the market.”
