At the annual general meeting of the Malta Cycling Federation (MCF), held earlier this month, John Zammit was confirmed as president for another two years. Acting secretary Cliff Micallef was voted in as general secretary while Austin Camilleri kept his role as treasurer.

In his speech, Zammit thanked the delegates for their contribution and urged each club to join forces with the federation in order to overcome the difficulties the MCF is facing due to increasing costs to organise road races and other events.

The MCF also put forward the race calendar for 2009. The highlights of next year's programme are the Tour of Malta, club and championship races, Malta's participation in the Cyprus GSSE and the Pescara Mediterranean Games.

In collaboration with the Malta Sports Council, the MCF will also hold a series of bike rides across Malta and Gozo to promote sports for all and will also take part in the Girls on the Move campaign after a successful pilot project.
