MEPA puts off Windsor Terrace decision

The Malta Environment and Planning Authority has put off a decision on a proposed five-storey development at Windsor Terrace in Sliema and asked the developer to submit revised plans.

The decision was due to have been taken this morning.

During this morning's meeting it was also revealed that the Superintendent of Cultural Heritage had written to MEPA expressing his concerns over the impact of the project on the street scape.

Environment NGOs, particularly Flimkien Ghal Ambjent Ahjar, have claimed that the development would violate the local plan.

Please don't ruin this too MEPA. You ruined our country. Try save some of it's character.

what do the owners of all these houses think? they are taking advantage of a market situation that allows them to make a windfall from selling their house......can they be blamed for this? how do they feel about the opposition to the proposed development? it would be very easy to say the whole of sliema would not have been turned into what it is now if everybody had been wealthy enough to not have had to sell their house.

Great news for now. I hope that common sense prevails.

this might show that mepa might at least be thinking about it rather than saying a rushed off yes

Regarding my previous comment, I would like to clarify this: application numbers 06269/06 and 01218/06 refer to the Milner Street/Howard Street block, and not to the Windosr Terrace building.

That's good news!

Maybe something can still be done about this one too, especially in view of the fact that the original application (01218/06) was turned down AFTER the current application (06269/06) was made (and permission granted). MEPA please take note!
