The University Junior College Orchestra will present a vocal and instrumental concert to inaugurate the third edition of the Sliema International Arts Festival and to mark the 10th anniversary of the orchestra's foundation.

The concert will take place at the Sliema Band Club culture hall on Sunday at 10.30 a.m.

Conducted by Mro Manoel Pirotta the orchestra will perform works by Bizet, Nino Rota, Vivaldi, Mendelssohn, Rimsky-Korsakoff, Carmelo Pace, Khachaturian and Johann Strauss.

The orchestra is made up of 45 musicians and has given more than 100 concerts not only in Malta but also in Italy, Germany and France.

Mro Pirotta was the first Maltese student to graduate Masters in paedagogy and composition from the Conservatoire National Superieur de Musique de Lyon in 1994 and in 2003 was selected international musician of the year by the research and advisory board of the International Biographical Centre of Cambridge.

A nominal donation of €5 is being requested of those attending the concert.
