Colin Pace has been crowned Malta chess champion for 2008 following his resounding success in the 73rd edition of the National Chess Finals, held recently at the premises of the Malta Chess Federation in Sliema.

Pace achieved a commendable score of 8.5/10 with seven wins and three draws. This was Pace's third national title in the last five years, having previously claimed this prestigious honour in 2003 and 2006.

With 2008 being Olympiad year, Pace is a key member of the national squad that will take part in the Dresden Chess Olympiad, starting today.
