HSBC Bank Malta is reducing its base rate for all lending rates, except home loans, to 3.55 per cent and the home loan base rate, the base for the bank's variable mortgage lending, to 3.35 per cent. HSBC has also reduced term deposit rates in line with the rate cut of the European Central Bank. Savings account rates have been reduced by less than the ECB rate cut. The bank has retained its higher rate on the online savings account, which includes three per cent per annum for balances over €5,000.
