Labour welcomes decision for MCAST appeal case to be heard
The Labour Party has welcomed a Contracts Board of Appeal decision to hear the case on the outsourcing of IT courses on Friday. The appeal was lodged following the process for the selection of companies to provide the courses for MCAST.
Education spokesman Evarist Bartolo said that contrary to what the government had claimed, it was not the inquiry requested by the opposition which kept courses from starting but the fact that the board had not yet heard the case moved by one of the companies which felt that it had not been fairly treated by the Contracts Committee.
The Labour Party last week appealed for the case to be heard with urgency because the longer it took, the more the 600 students who were supposed to have started their course weeks ago remained without tuition.

What if the inquiry finds that there was corruption?
This is simply a delaying tactic by the incompetent, arrogant and minority Gonzipn Government to dissuade students from continuing the course and then to blame the Opposition for doing so and also because they are mostly children from working class parents and not children of the elite who are chosen to go to University.
If Gonzipn was democratic and had nothing to hide it should have ordered an immediate inquiry with a given short time limit within which it should present its report.

Mr A. Mangion
It is incredible how you keep repeating the same things all over again without understanding the basics of the case. Since when bidders do not have rights to appeal against government decisions especially when there are very serious accusations? Are you still living pre-EU membership era? Are you insinuating that the government has some divine right to conduct any wrongdoings and the Maltese citizens do not have any right to question the government's decisions? Don't you know that Malta is a democratic country and not a dictatorship? I hope that you would not now suggest that Maltese citenzs who appeal against a government decision should be hanged in public!
And if, for the sake of the argument, wrongdoings are found, who will you then accuse for all these delays? Such cases entail more democratic maturity than your writings here and stop using the students to excuse the government from the alleged irregularities.
Wait till the outcome of the investigations and then talk Mr Mangion!

First they stop the system, than they criticise the government for stopping, than they are happy that the appeal will be heard, and all the MLP got back is 2 months frustrations for students.
Sacrificing students for political milage. Shame on you. Hope that the appeal case will find something faulty, else time wasted just for nothing.

It is scandalous that our students are denied two months of ICT education because of a legal wrangle. Whatever the authorities may say to allay parent worries there is no way that you can catch up on two months of lost lectures and how about those students who gave up waiting and changed course.
When there are questions of national interest there should be mechanisms for government in agreement r with the opposition to override legal challenges by contractors and be pragmatic in continuing with the process of serving the citizen.
We have already experienced in the past citizen discomfort in major road and hospital contracts because of legal challenges and yet while the citizen suffers those accused of tendering wrongdoings seem always to get away scot free.

Good news indeed.. education should always be prioritised.. MCAST seems to be the goverment's pride.. in every propaganda speech, the goverment always mentions the successes of MCAST and the large number of students that MCAST caters for. What about this? a board which takes ages to meet! Hello!!!! there is our youths' education at stake! Wake up please!!!

Good news indeed. Hopefully this case will be solved with URGENCY as hundreds
of 17/18 year old teenagers are all feeling low and rejected with nothing to do.
I hope all parties involved will act responsibly and with all these students and their
parents and families in mind.
