Falzon breaks duck in major events

Miguel Falzon chalked up the first major title of his career by winning the second open ranking tournament of the Malta Pool Association season, played recently in Żejtun.

Top Gun Bar player Falzon had to wait until the final frame to secure victory over Chris Tabone, of Jojo's Bar, with an 8-7 final score. Thanks to his success, Falzon moved to second place in the national ranking list behind Clayton Attard, of St Joseph Band Club, who retains the number one spot.

In the semi-finals Falzon eliminated Christ Mills, of Domus Kids, 7-3. Tabone had the better of Ray Caruana, of Taste Good, 7-4.

In the U-18 category, Emerson Camilleri, who plays for 147 Snooker Hall, also clinched his first ranking victory by beating first-time finalist Dylan Attard, of Pandora, 6-3.

Both tournaments attracted over 100 players.

The next tournaments in the series get underway on November 24.
