Six members of staff from Madonna Tal-Mensija Primary School A, San Ġwann, took part in a week-long job shadowing activity at G. Sandri Primary School, San Bonifacio, in Italy's Veneto region.

They participated in various lessons with Italian children of different age groups, familiarised themselves with the school's ICT equipment and discussed the various methods of teaching and administration at the school.

The participants included the school head, three kindergarten assistants and two Year 1 teachers. The activity's aim was for the participants to experience both the different environment and the methods of teaching of foreign educators.

It was a very successful visit which continued to enrich the San Ġwann primary and brought it and the Italian school closer together. The visit also had its cultural aspects with tours to Verona and Venice.

The job shadowing activity formed part of the Comenius project 'Open Windows' that the San Gwann primary is involved in along with the San Bonifacio primary and two other schools from Germany and Northern Ireland. The project is being funded with the support from the European Commission under the Socrates - Comenius programme.
