Smart City Malta gets own postcode

As works progress to deliver Phase One of Smart City by 2010, the state-of-the-art ICT and media city in Ricasoli now has its own postcode, SCM 1001.

The postcode means that Smart City can provide its prospective tenants with distinct postcodes depending on the building that they are located in within the township.

This is another tangible step which grounds Smart City Malta into an immediate reality.

Smart City Malta CEO Claudio Grech said: "ICT and media are an increasingly competitive and sophisticated business and the address they operate from makes all the difference to their portfolio."

With a minimum investment outlay equivalent to US$ 300 million, Smart City is expected to transform Malta into the Mediterranean capital for ICT and media industries, providing complete technical infrastructure for ICT, film, television, music production and allied fields, including comprehensive production and post-production facilities and support services.

Smart City's Phase One will entail a mix of components to cater for the knowledge-based township community's needs such as office space, shopping boulevards and residential units.

The majority of the space is dedicated to ICT and media office space - 20,034 square metres.
