The Xemxija and Għadira nature reserves will be open to the public between today and the end of May.

The two ecologically-important salt marshes are managed by BirdLife (Malta) and have been designated as internationally important sites under the Convention of Wetlands of International Importance.

Both reserves have also been given the status of Special Protection Area and Special Area of Conservation under EU nature conservation directives. Guided walks will be held by staff and volunteers every hour. The nature reserves will be open between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. during weekends.

Entrance is free and there is no need to book.
