Where country comes first
During the US election campaign and during the victory celebrations, I did not see any party flags but only the American flag. How I envy them!

Until Malta has primaries to choose the party leaders. You will never have true democracy. The way democracy works in Malta. If you want to call it democracy. The party chooses a DICTATOR and the population votes for one of the two DICTATORS. Only if the people want John McCain to run again. Will he get the oppurtunity. This why in Malta a Prime Minister owes nothing to the people and owes EVERYTHING to his party and party insiders.

It's just different traditions - we have party flags, whereas their flags had Obama/Biden 08, or McCain/Palin 08. I assure you that the campaign was just as partisan. The reason being that here, the party and the leader are tightly linked, whereas in the US, they choose the party candidate themselves.
