The US Embassy has donated €181,691.12 towards the purchase of climbing, fitness, and recreational equipment for the new Ta’ Qali Adventure Park for children.
The money was presented to Rural Affairs Minister George Pullicino by ambassador Molly Bordonaro.
She said that the decision to donate the funds resulted from the American and Maltese governments shared goal to preserve and protect the Ta’ Qali National Park, one of Malta’s natural treasures and an important part of its national heritage.
Mr Pullicino said that this new extension would be a unique attraction to the Maltese islands and would feature fitness and play equipment for both kids and adults.
This would be the fourth extension to the national park in as many years, and the government was committed to continue increasing the space for recreation.

The 'donation' by the USA was unnecessary as my company, in partnership with RCD (Europe's largest course builder), had been pressing to build such a course for the last few years at nil cost to the taxpayer. Alas, the Ministries involved thought it better to stonewall the process and avoid responding to us before unveiling the idea as one of its own a few days before the last general election. If memory serves, in return for the USA's donation Malta agreed to provide a number of its armed personnel to serve in Afghanistan.

Would that maybe be asking for a little too much? (sic). US of A has has already had the "option with the Government of Malta to purchase 10 acres of government-owned land in Ta' Qali to be the site for a New American Embassy".
Maybe this donation was a little act of compensation towards us losing 10 acres of precious land which is rapidly dwindling on this little isle.

"shared goal to preserve and protect the Ta’ Qali National Park, one of Malta’s NATURAL treasures and an important part of its national heritage."
Yes protect the rolling hills and glens of Ta' Qali; most importantly the spring waters and migrating buffalo.
There is nothing NATURAL about Ta' Qali, it's just a man made park, not even made by us, but the British. Yes I agree that we should invest money into the park and clean up certain areas. It's already looking great, but I'm sure we can do more for the hundreds of people that go there on the weekend to spend some time out doors without being gunned down by hunters.

Some serious thought should be given to ensure that people can walk or jog in Ta' Qali away from the fumes of the cars and lorries.

It would have been better if they left Ta' Qali as it was. The new area of the National Park is full of metal work that's a terrible eyesore. I think it's a tad farfetched to call it one of malta's 'natural treasures' quite frankly since it's anything but natural, especially as of late.
Apart from this, i regularly go for a walk in Ta' Qali and i usually see more families in the car parks with their children on their bikes and playing football and with their dogs than actually *inside* the park anyway.

Just to let everyone see, that from half a world away, the UNITED STATES goes out of it's way to help tiny Malta, either on immigration, aid or donation's. YET Europe shuns it's back to Malta when it asks for help, particulary on immigration. WHAT A SHAME!!

No problem brothers and sisters. This is my tax money at work. It couldn't be spent in a better way.

There's no doubt that Ta'Qali Adventure park is becoming a par excellence project.
There is no doubt.
Hats off to George, U.S ambassador and to all the staff at Ta'Qali whom I see every now and then working tirelessly to make this project come true.... safe and sound and......fast.
Congrats.

Thanks to the U.S. embassy. Let's hope we Maltese do make good use of it once this project is completed.

Thank you US of A. would it be asking too much if we were to ask for a donation to revamp the ta' Qali crafts village?

Thanks a lot Ms. Bordonaro. You are surely the most well known from all US embassadors for Malta. We are really proud to have you here.

A big thank you to the US Embassy.
Ta' Qali is one of the most beautiful spots in Malta. Many childhood memories: push-biking, soccer, and most of all flying home-made kites.
