The peace promoting boat Mona Lisa will be in Valletta tomorrow.

The Mona Lisa forms part of Peace Boat, a Japan-based, international non-governmental organisation that has been working since 1983 to promote peace and sustainability through the organisation of voyages on-board a large passenger ship.

This is part of its 63rd Global Voyage for Peace, which left Japan on September 7 and is visiting 22 countries as part of its three-month voyage around the world.

The 700 passengers on board include more than 100 Hibakusha (atomic bomb survivors) of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, who are joining this voyage to share their testimonies of the experience of the atomic bomb with people around the world.

Through direct interaction with youth, the public, NGOs and victims of wars from other parts of the world, Hibakushas will only act as peace and disarmament educators, raising awareness on the dangers of nuclear weapons and the human costs of war.

They will also add their voices to the call to abolish all nuclear weapons and create an alternative vision for peace and global stability that does not rely on force.

Hibakusha and other Peace Boat participants will have meeting the Peace Lab while in Malta.
