Enforcing smoking ban with a heavy hand

I am a non-smoker and the smell of cigarettes on my clothes and my hair after a night out drinking and socialising is a nightmare for me, so I certainly agree that those people who smoke should do so in designated areas or outside.

My problem is that I also find it most unpleasant to see a pack of policeman roughly pushing their way into an already overcrowded bar looking at everyone's faces and hands to verify if they are smoking or not, as if they are looking for an undercover killer.

The situation gets even worse when people realise that the policeman are rushing in and everyone's attention is suddenly directed to who will be caught and who will manage to drop his cigarette so as not to be caught red-handed.

The smoking ban is also enforced by undercover policemen. The problem with these policemen, apart from the fact that they all seem to be packed with steroids and have arms wider than my legs, is that some are arrogant and rude. Being grabbed by the arm and dragged outside by a hulk lookalike is another experience I would rather do without in an environment where everyone meets to have fun after a whole week of work.

Apart from asking the police force to be a bit more considerate when dealing with this problem, I would also like to ask if this law applies only to the bars in Paceville because so far I have never been in a bar outside Paceville where I have seen a policeman looking for people in breach of this law. To the contrary, in Paceville policemen sometimes visit the same place twice or more in one night.
