Last week I underwent a major operation and I chose Mater Dei Hospital. I do not regret it and would like to thank the consultant and his team as well as all the staff at the Urology Ward 1 for the perfect service and their dedication that I was given non-stop 24 hours a day.

The hospital is truly state-of-the-art, and it makes you feel good. All the staff members were a great support and were instrumental in my speedy recovery.

During my week at Mater Dei I read about, and I repeat, I only read about, the industrial action by nursing staff; in no way did I feel there was some industrial action underway. I assure everyone (the authorities included) that the patients felt no discomfort and we were never neglected for one minute. We were given full attention at all times of day and night. However, I did notice that the nurses have to cope with too many things. They have a non-stop job.

I urge the health authorities to do their utmost and give a full complement to the hospital not only to meet the demands of the staff but also to have an even better health service.
