Obituary

FERRO ATTARD MONTALTO. On November 2, at Villa Messina, Rabat, MARY RITA, née Sceberras Trigona, widow of Rosario, aged 97, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her sister Doris and her husband Major Joe Attard Montaldo, her nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Villa Messina today at 1 p.m. for Our Lady of Pompeii parish church, Marsaxlokk, where Mass praesente cadaver will be said at 2 p.m., followed by interment at the Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. Lord, grant her eternal rest.

PSAILA. On November 2, ANTHONY of Birkirkara, residing in Attard, aged 90, passed away peacefully at Mater Dei Hospital, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his wife Frances, his children Mario and his wife Rita, Josette and her husband Saviour Cortis, Robert and his wife Yvette, Margot and her husband Paul Portelli, his sister Mary, a member of the MUSEUM Society, many grandchildren, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital today at 8.30 a.m. for Attard parish church, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 9 a.m. followed by interment in the family grave at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request, but donations to Dar tal-Providenza, Siġġiewi, will be greatly appreciated. Lord grant him eternal rest.

Puccini concert

The12th of May Band of Żebbuġ will be staging its seventh annual concert at the Catholic Institute, Floriana on November 30 at 7.30 p.m. in memory of Italian opera composer Giacomo Puccini and in aid of Dar Tal-Providenza.

Under the direction of Hermann Farrugia Frantz, the band will be accompanied by sopranos Joan Mangion and Francesca Farrugia, tenor Joseph Aquilina and bass Louis Cassar. Tickets, selling at €5, are available from the Catholic Institute's booking office and from the 12th of May Band Club.

Street closed in Sliema

Rudolph Street, Sliema, from Church Street to St Mary Street, will be closed to traffic between today and December 15.

Traffic heading towards the centre of town will be diverted to Manwel Dimech Street while route bus 63 will be diverted through Manwel Dimech Street, Balluta, St Julians, Tower Road and Dingli Street, Sliema. Parking will not be permitted in various parts of Manwel Dimech Street according to signs and markings which will be put in place.

Prayer meeting at Luqa

A prayer meeting for the sanctification of priests and for priestly and religious vocations will be held on Saturday at Luqa parish church, starting with Mass at 9.45 p.m. followed by adoration till midnight.

Requiem Mass

A Mass for the repose of the soul of dead bandsmen and benefactors of Pinto Philharmonic Society will be said at 77, Palazz Narbona, Triq San Sebastjan, Qormi on Friday at 7.15 p.m.

Remembrance services

Remembrance services will be held at the Holy Trinity Anglican church, Rudolph Street, Sliema and St Paul's Anglican Pro-Cathedral, West Street, Valletta on Sunday at 9.30 a.m.

Oriental carpets

Jennifer Wearden, curator at the Victoria and Albert Museum, will be delivering a lecture entitled Oriental Carpets, Their Design and Construction at the Hotel Phoenicia, Floriana today at 6.30 p.m. Entrance is free but seats will be allocated on a first-come-first-served basis.
