WLA represents the interests of 140 government-controlled lotteries from over 70 countries.
Maltco Lotteries has been accepted as a full member of the World Lotteries Association.
This follows Maltco's membership of the European State Lotteries last July.
The general director of Maltco Lotteries, Mario Cassar noted that the objectives of both the WLA and EL in terms of corporate social responsibility, transparency and high operational standards were completely aligned with those of his company.
Within EL, Maltco has joined 35 other international member lotteries committed to act in a responsible, transparent and consistent manner with respect to promoting and administering its games.
The objectives of the EL include: the promotion of effective communication between members, the European and international gaming industry, the institutions of the European Union and European governments; the provision of precise information and sound support to members and the establishment of a forum for the exchange of technical and educational experience and information.
Best practices are continuously identified in respect of the various aspects of operations in the lottery sector with a focus on responsible gaming. EL's approach to responsible gaming is based on the principles of prevention and education policies, a spokesman for Maltco said.
WLA represents the interests of about 140 government-controlled lotteries from over 70 countries. Apart from providing services to members to help them serve their markets better today and in the future, the WLA's mission includes the promotion of corporate social responsibility in lottery operations whilst improving the public's understanding of lotteries' role in society.
