The government is next year to spend €4 million for maintenance and upgrading works at Karin Grech Hospital so that the building may be used as a rehabilitation centre, Finance Minister Tonio Fenech said in the Budget speech this evening.

He said the former hospital will group services currently provided at Zammit Clapp and St Luke's Hospital. It will perform this role until a Rehabilitation Hospital is opened..

An extension of St Jeanne Antide complex in Attard will also be taken in hand next year.
