Year 4 Victoria primary schoolchildren on October 24 marked Gozo Day and College Day by placing flowers at the foot of the monument of Archpriest Saverio Cassar on Independence Square, Victoria.

Fr Cassar led the uprising against the French in Gozo in 1798. He was head of Gozo's provisional government for two years. Flowers were also placed by Vincent Grech, chairman of the National and Regional Festivities Committee, Frank Gatt, Gozo College Principal, and representatives of various schools.

The wreath-laying was followed by a programme of activities at Sir Arturo Mercieca Primary School in Victoria.
