Exigy, in collaboration with Dynamicweb, held a business breakfast at the Hilton, Portomaso last month to help the local industry benefit from cutting-edge financial management and eCommerce technologies.

Targeted at small- and medium-sized businesses operating within the retail and distribution industry, the meeting attracted a wide range of companies, from the clothing, haberdashery, health care, bathrooms and domestic appliances industries to book publishers and wines and spirits wholesalers.

Robert Gauci, from Exigy's business development unit, identified the challenges retailers and distributors faced in their daily operations and spoke on how they could benefit from a single data system that enables full integration of business activities.

Denise Borda, from the Malta Communications Authority, presented the results of a recent eCommerce survey, focusing on local opportunities, trends and issues.

Mr Gauci developed the discussion by showcasing the inventory, supply chain, customer relationship and retail and distribution management capabilities, core to Microsoft's award-winning Dynamics NAV business solution.

Readily available with a server, operating system, Firewall, Microsoft Office as well as a Server Database, Exigy's streamlined solution provides an added value to retailers and distributors to help them utilise their time better and focus more on critical issues surrounding their business.

Soeren Laursen and Peter Terkildsen, directors at Danish eCommerce specialist company Dynamicweb, provided a live demonstration of the capabilities of their specialised eBusiness platform that enables eCommerce activities and fully integrates with Microsoft Dynamics NAV.

They illustrated the core and added functionality of their highly scalable Content Management System and how this can be integrated with the company's NAV financial system and with the 1PAYeurope payment gateway.

The benefits of such a system are twofold: enabling customers to shop and pay online from the comfort of their own home; and simplifying the accounting of online sales for sellers.

After showing how a business can easily manage its sales channels through one central location, Mr Gauci spoke briefly about Exigy's Business Quick Start - an integrated yet highly cost-effective solution specifically designed to enable retail and distribution companies to do more with significantly less.
