Advocaat: Zenit St Petersburg coach Dick Advocaat said he would extend his contract with the Russian premier league club for another year. "Yes, I will sign (a new contract)," the Dutchman, who last year steered Zenit to their first league title in more than a quarter of a century and also led them to UEFA Cup victory in May, said. "Our aim is to win the title next year."

Basketball, NBA: Dallas has been selected to host the 2010 NBA All-Star Game, league commissioner David Stern announced alongside Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban and Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones on Thursday. The game will be played at the new Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas, a facility that seats more than 80,000, which would be the largest ever crowd for the annual All-Star contest.

Golf: Spaniard Seve Ballesteros remains in intensive care in Madrid's La Paz hospital after a third operation on a brain tumour a week ago, to reduce swelling and remove more of the tumour. "The patient is stable and his neurological condition is improving, though he needs to continue in intensive care," the hospital said in a statement.
