Alex Borg chalked up his third victory at the IBSF World Snooker Championships, currently being held in Wels, Austria.

The Malta champion yesterday took little time to brush aside the challenge of Scotland's Thomas McSorley, winning the Group H match 4-0 in just over 50 minutes.

Runs of 82 and 75 saw Borg take a 2-0 lead and the Mellieħa-born cueist kept up his good form to wrap up a commanding victory. Borg now needs to win one of his three remaining matches to book his place in the knock-out stage which starts on Tuesday. Last night, Borg was due to face Henry Killian, of New Zealand.

In the masters event, Tony Mifsud suffered his second defeat of the competition, losing 3-0 to Karnchai Wongjang, of Thailand.
